Herb-Roasted New York Strip Steak



Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 2-pound piece New York Strip
Sea salt and cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 ounce chopped garlic
1 ounce chopped rosemary

Preparation:
1. Heat grill to 450 degrees.
2. Place steak in a shallow metal roasting pan. Rub with 1 tablespoon oil. Sprinkle top and sides with salt, pepper, garlic and rosemary.
3. Place meat on grill. Cook until beef is browned on all sides. Place on cooler side of grill for 30 minutes or until thermometer inserted in center reaches 140 degrees.
4. Remove steak from pan. Place on serving platter and cover loosely with aluminum foil to keep warm.

Salad ingredients and preparation

Ingredients:
8 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
¾ cup olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
14 ounces baby spinach leaves, washed
2 # of grilled New York strip
1 # baby Portobello mushrooms cleaned
8 oz goat cheese
Salt and pepper
2 oz canola oil



Preparation:

Method:
1. Pre-heat the smoker.
2. Combine the vinegar and mustard.
3. Whisk in the oil. Season with salt and pepper. Add a little sugar to taste.
4. In a medium bowl, combine mushrooms with olive oil and season with pepper.
5. Place meat in smoker. The steak should be golden brown when finished (20 minutes cooking time).
6. In a large bowl, toss the greens with the vinaigrette. Place in the middle of a salad bowl.
7. Place thin slices of the New York strip steak on top of the spinach salad, topping with smoked mushrooms, and crumbled goat cheese.
8. Enjoy!
